On Friday, Aug. 28, Special Olympics Missouri and The Clubhouse on Baltimore will host Kansas City’s newest extreme fundraiser: Over the Edge! During the event, 100 people will each rappel from the 15th floor balcony of The Clubhouse on Baltimore to the street below.
Each participant will raise funds for Special Olympics Missouri. All funds from Over the Edge will stay in Kansas City and directly support year-round sports training and competition for more than 2,000 Special Olympics Missouri athletes in Greater Kansas City. Over the Edge is presented by the Kansas City Police Department as part of its commitment to Special Olympics Missouri athletes through the Law Enforcement Torch Run. “We take pride in providing a year-round program at no cost to our athletes that allows them to achieve goals in life they once thought impossible. With Over the Edge, we’re asking our fans to do the same thing. By stepping outside their comfort zones for one day, 100 fans will make it possible for Special Olympics athletes to create a lifetime of their own unforgettable memories,” said Jeremie Ballinger, Special Olympics Missouri’s Kansas City metro area director. The event is open to fans who are 18 years of age or older by the event date; weigh 300 pounds or less by the event date; and commit to raise a minimum of $1,000 for Special Olympics Missouri by the event date. All participants will receive a prize package consisting of an official event shirt, a photo of their rappel and admission to our official post-party. Additional prizes are available to top fundraisers, and to those judged as wearing the best costume.
