BLUE SPRINGS — Using the right combination of timely big plays and stout defense, Team Missouri won the 18th edition of the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association Metro Classic on Thursday, June 18, picking up a 10-7 victory at Blue Springs South High. Fort Osage's Dalton Krysa scored on a 1-yard touchdown run on a fourth-and-goal play with 2:14 to play in the first quarter, and Kearney's Matt Slenker added a 21-yard field goal with 3:50 remaining in the third quarter to give Missouri all the points it would need. Kansas finally got on the board with 5:25 remaining in the game on a 79-yard touchdown run by Bonner Springs' Jeremy Walker, one of the rare plays for positive yardage against the Missouri defense. The win snaps a two-game losing skid for Missouri, with Kansas now holding a 10-7 all-time mark. For a complete recap, check out the Thursday, June 25 print edition of The Liberty Tribune.
